The season is off and running now, so how does it look for our Oakland Raiders. Well, in this article, we will give season predictions, best players on each side of the ball, and the lay-out of upcoming articles this season.
First on offense, look for Randy Moss to have a comeback year in Oakland as he is building confidence with quarterback Aaron Brooks. Moss has always possessed the skill set to dominate the NFL and has even prompted some in football to say that if he maxed out his talents, he could be the greatest wide receiver of all time. Desire will be a question here, but with Art Shell as your head coach, it should be a lingering problem in 2006.
The defense could actually be pretty good this year as a unit, so it is tough to single out one player. If I had to pick one, I would go with defensive end Derrick Burgess, who is a beast out of a pass rusher. The Raiders have the secondary to defend the pass and if Burgess can lead an above-average pass rush, this defense could win a few games this year.
We will also give some love to the special teams and kicker Sebastian Janikowski will be one of the top special team units in the league. Janikowski has as much natural skill as any kicker and at a slimmer, more dedicated state, he could be looking at a career year.
Now with all of the players to watch out there, here is the end result the Raiders will be looking at. I see a 6-10 team that will struggle to win on the road and beat better teams and since they are in the lower half of teams in the NFL, that signals another double-digit loss year for the boys in black.
