Giants' wide receiver Plaxico Burress made a poor decision when he ventured out into the New York City night last week with his gun lighted tucked into his pants.
We may never know exactly why he decided to bring his gun out, but staying home should have been an easy decision that fateful night.
Hollandia International has a product known as the "Plax Bed", also (and originally) known as the Safe-T Bed.
"We opted to make the name change early this week. This was done in a tongue-in-cheek manner and in no way is to make light of this very serious situation," said Maya Ben, Vice President of United Operations for Hollandia International. "Everyone can relate to those days when you wish you had stayed in bed; this was Plaxico's."
The bed features a built-in safe that would have allowed Burress to store his gun safely while out on the town.
"We have received a spike in interest over the past few days with all the news stories across the country including the 'Plax Bed.' We have showrooms in the Short Hills Mall in New Jersey and the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania, and our consumer traffic and phone calls have increased significantly. While the bed was originally designed for gun storage, there are many other practical uses for the safe,” Ben added. “Experts are saying that in this economic climate it is safer to put your money into your mattress than into a bank or the stock market, the 'Plax Bed' provides a very secure place while also providing the pinnacle in luxury sleep."
Perhaps staying in bed would have worked out better for Burress, who will now watch New York's playoff run from home.
