Somebody Buy My Mind A Roadmap
The QB situation in the 49ers locker room, Shawne Merriman's shameless attention grab, why the Panthers could runaway with the NFC South and BCS predictions.

The NFL Reina Value
Which players were statistical monsters in 2007? Perhaps more importantly, which players gave their teams the best return on their investments?

Breakout Players Of 2008
Among Marshawn Lynch, Calvin Johnson, LaRon Landry and Thomas Howard, there are no shortage of young players that are poised to explode this season.

Make Up Your Mind, Favre
If Favre comes back, he better stick it out for a full season whether he starts, is a back-up, or gets benched several games into the season.

I’m proud to be an Eagles’ fan after their performance against the undefeated Patriots on Sunday night. They may not have handed New England its first loss of the season, but they surprised the entire country by taking Tom Brady and company to the limit at Gillette Stadium.

Heading into the battle Philadelphia was listed as a 22-point underdog, but they actually led the Patriots with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. If it hadn’t been for a special teams' penalty with the Pats prepared to punt, the Eagles might have pulled off the biggest upset of the decade.

I had the pleasure of watching the game live in Foxborough, Massachusetts and enjoyed each and every minute of it – despite the outcome. The last four minutes of the game may not have unfolded as I wished, but the first 56 minutes were a dream come true. I had resigned myself to the fact that New England was going to dismantle my Eagles, but getting to take in one of the best games of the season was a pleasant surprise.

The fans at Gillette Stadium treated me rather decently, probably because they were deathly-afraid that the Eagles would end their perfect season for a majority of the game. I definitely plan on spending another Sunday in Foxborough in the near future, and I’d recommend making the trip to Gillette to any Northeastern pigskin fan.

The Downs
The First Down…Green Bay
Can you believe that the Green Bay Packers (10-1) are still among the best in the NFL? Brett Favre led the Packers to another victory over the Lions on Thanksgiving with 381 yards and three touchdowns, heading into their important game against the Cowboys (10-1) this Thursday. Through eleven games Favre has totaled 3,356 yards, twenty-two touchdowns and eight interceptions. He’s on pace to throw for over 4,800 yards and 32 touchdowns this season.

The Second Down…Seattle Heat
The Seattle Seahawks are getting hot at the right time, even with former MVP Shaun Alexander on the bench due to various injuries. Seattle has won three consecutive games, including divisional-battles against St. Louis and San Francisco. Their 24-19 victory over the Rams on Sunday gave them a two-game lead over Cardinals in the NFC West. They have Matt Hasselbeck to thank but will need Alexander to return to the field as opposing defenses start to hone in on stopping their passing game.

The Third Down…Baltimore Reeling
After beginning the season with four wins in six games, the Baltimore Ravens have lost five-straight and have fallen out of the AFC playoff picture. They have lost to each of their three division rivals, the Bills and the Chargers during their streak of futility. Their once-dominant defense hasn’t been able to stop anyone over the last month, and their offense cannot keep up with any opponents on the scoreboard as a result. With games against the Patriots and Colts in the next two weeks, seven-straight could come awfully fast.

The Fourth Down…Jacksonville Has Arrived
No one is talking about them, but the Jaguars are within a game of the defending-champion Indianapolis Colts. After manhandling the Bills on Sunday, the Jaguars (8-3) will face the Colts (9-2) this Sunday with lead in the AFC South on the line. The Colts tuned up against the Chiefs but will have to bring their ‘A’ game to extend their lead over the Jags with a little more than a month left in the season. Winners of three-straight, Jacksonville plays three of their final five games on the road.

The ‘Who The Heck’ Statline of the Week…
Chiefs’ running back Kolby Smith: 31 carries for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

My Keyboard Prediction for Week Thirteen
Jacksonville at Indianapolis, Sunday 1:00PM EST
This game, as expected, will be a tight one. Peyton Manning got himself back on track against the Chiefs in Week Twelve but will have a difficult time shredding the Jaguars’ defense with the same ease. It will take help from Joseph Addai and the Colts’ defense, but Manning will reign supreme this weekend – extending the Colts’ lead to two games in the AFC South.
Keyboard Prediction: Indianapolis 31, Jacksonville 27

My Fantasy Diary…
This shouldn’t have happened. It really shouldn’t have.

The Drew Crew (7-4) faced The Vipers (3-8) last week with a playoff berth in sight. A win over the Vipers shouldn’t have been too difficult, but in actuality the Vipers gave The Crew all they had and then some.

The Vipers put up their highest point total of the season against me, thumping me *** to *** in the process. I experienced sub-par performances from each one of my eight starters, while The Vipers enjoyed season-bests from a majority of their roster.

Carson Palmer tossed three touchdowns, Ryan Grant rushed for over one-hundred yards and a score, and Greg Jennings and Antonio Gates combined for four touchdowns for the Vipers. Those four alone combined for 96 points, more than enough to embarrass The Crew.

My team posted its lowest total of the season by far, with Eli Manning, Anquan Boldin, Dwayne Bowe and Benjamin Watson combining for a dismal 24 points in Week Twelve.

My loss, coupled with a win for the Woodpeckers, has dropped me to third-place in my division. After racing out to a 7-2 record, I’ve now lost three consecutive games, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. With two weeks left in the regular season, I’ll need to win out to assure myself of a postseason berth.

In Week Thirteen I’ll face the High Strokers (4-8), who handed me my first loss of the season in Week Three. The Strokers seem to march out a different lineup each week, but I expect to face the likes of Steven Jackson, Reggie Bush and Braylon Edwards this weekend.

Wish me luck.

My Fantasy Football Record for the 2007 Season:
Week Twelve: 5-7
Week Eleven: 6-6
Week Ten: 4-8
Week Nine: 5-7
Week Eight: 6-6
Week Seven: 6-6
Week Six: 10-2
Week Five: 5-7
Week Four: 9-3
Week Three: 7-5
Week Two: 6–6
Week One: 8–4
Overall: 77 wins and 67 losses
