Stating Their Case
Aaron Bronsteter, Team Du Bronsteter:
“Palmer will be better this year than he was last year. He's already shaken the fears of getting hurt again, and while it's a concern, I think that he'll put up career numbers. Randy Moss is the biggest risk in any fantasy draft and I'm willing to take it. Moss will be motivated on a winning team and the Patriots should be favored to win the whole thing.

LJ had better work out his contract situation, because if he does, he'll continue to put up insane numbers week-after-week. I was deciding between LJ, Gore and Alexander. Jamal Lewis will be Cleveland's best player. I expect him to get it done week after week. Vernon Davis, if healthy, has a chance to be a top-3 tight end.

I won last year, let's repeat and get it done.”

Tim Donahue, Count’s Blessings:
“My team will have the lowest number of players implicated in Michael Vick's dog fighting ring. Also, NFL just hired Tim Donaghy to do all of my games.”

J.T. Magee, Fire Rock Hard-Ons:
“Landing the 4th pick, I knew I wanted Gore. Although this league is designed more for wide receivers than for running backs, I knew I had to secure two RBs with my first two picks. Now that Gore has a broken hand, that pick will give me worries throughout the season. I’m set with Gore, Willis McGahee, Michael Turner and Ladell Betts. If you can get that RB depth in any fantasy league, you are on top of your game.

Tom Brady was a must. He has too many weapons not to post a better fantasy season than both Donovan McNabb and Carson Palmer, who were taken ahead of him. With playmakers in Donte Stallworth, Randy Moss and Ben Watson (also on my team) to throw to, Brady will have too many options to go to. I bet they’re going to send at least one player deep on each play just because they can. Phillip Rivers was the steal of the draft. He’s going to lead the Chargers to the best record in the AFC West because that offense is simply too good with all of their weapons. He, like Brady, has five legitimate targets to throw to on each play.

I wanted Antonio Gates with my fourth round pick but settled for Hines Ward, one of the most consistent fantasy WRs in the past few years. With Pittsburgh focusing on getting Big Ben Roethlisberger back to the ‘Miami of Ohio’ Roethlisberger, Ward could be my best value-pick. Braylon Edwards was a reach, but he’s the first option for a rookie quarterback. He’ll get his numbers this year, even if Brady Quinn struggles. I have two weapons for Brady in Ben Watson and Donte Stallworth, who averaged a TD for every 8 touches last season.

My favorite pick and ultimate steal has to be Devin Hester. It doesn’t matter where he is on the field because he has the potential to score every time he touches the ball. With the Bears putting him everywhere on offense, he’ll get plenty of looks and opportunities this season to catch the ball and create in the open field.

Overall, my team lacks top-notch WRs, but I feel McGahee and Gore will get enough action out of the backfield to make up for it. With Stallworth and Watson starting, I’ll have potential to score two touchdowns for every Brady scoring pass. It’s not a strategy to bank on, but it’ll be enough to take this league. Watch out for Hester. I’m tellin’ y’all.”

Andrew Perna, The Stugots of Drew
“Well, I can’t really sound any more confident about my team than J.T. did, but I’m pretty content with my roster (despite the fact that I picked last). With all of the top-shelf talent off the board I decided to go running back/wide receiver with my first two picks. I’m hoping Cam Cameron will turn Ronnie Brown into LaDainian Tomlinson Lite and that Steve Smith stays healthy all year. If so, I’ll get more than enough out of my first two picks.

Marc Bulger and Lee Evans were my next two picks. I feel Bulger is one of the more consistent options at quarterback, so I have no problem trusting him week-to-week. I might have reached a little bit for Evans with guys like Anquan Boldin and Hines Ward on the board, but he’s an 80-yard touchdown waiting to happen.

My favorite pick-up was DeAngelo Williams in the sixth round. I don’t care what anyone says, but by the middle of the season he’s going to be starting in Carolina and racking up yards and scores like nobody’s business. Until then I have no problem stashing him on the bench in favor of Brown and Deuce McAllister (who will share will Reggie Bush, but get his fair share).

I had to have an Eagle on my team so I grabbed L.J. Smith as my tight end, which was a smart move regardless of allegiance. Later on I ‘handcuffed’ Williams by taking DeShaun Foster. If Foster comes back healthy and keeps the starting gig, I’ll still have one of the Panthers starting running backs. I took a chance on wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Drew Carter. Marshall might still be a year away, but I figured he was worth a pick that late. I took Carter not to ‘handcuff’ Smith, but in case he blows up. He’ll be starting alongside Steve, and that might mean more looks than ever before.

You’ll be hearing an awful lot about this league when reading the ‘Keyboard Quarterback’ this season, so study the rosters. And get my trophy ready Aaron, I’m stealing your thunder.”

D.R., Super Bowl Champs:
"I may not have a team full of 'name players', but we'll play hard, win hard and take that Vince Lombardi Trophy from right under your team's nose. But will the powers-that-be at the NFL, PLEASE keep my team injury-free..."

Shane Strickland, HMFFL:
"So, I find myself with the first overall pick, and I can't force myself to pass on LaDainian Tomlinson. I can't remember the last time I was lucky enough to have the first overall pick, but I'm not sure how lucky I really am. I usually find myself at the bottom of the barrel, and now I have to change up my game plan.

Edgerrin James was my second pick. I hate it, but I had to go with two running backs during this situation. I wanted Torry Holt badly, but I went with Edge and followed that with Donovan McNabb, who normally ruins my fantasy teams due to chronic injuries.

Health is always the key. So if my soldiers stay healthy I expect good things to happen, but overall the league is going to be very competitive."
