 So, as the preseason reaches its mid-point, football fans all over the country set out to start another season of Fantasy Football. In an effort to help you along with the process and win your league, here is the RealGM guide to your 2006 draft.
Quarterbacks
1. Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
He is once again the head of the class with a great skill set and unbelievable weapons, even with the loss of Edgerrin James.
2. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
He is still underrated by some, but he just puts up great numbers every year as the leaders of the Patriots.
3. Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles
McNabb had some shine knocked off his armor last year, but he is a dual threat quarterback who is primed for a huge comeback year.
4. Matt Hasselback, Seattle Seahawks
Mike Holmgren is a quarterback genius and Hasselback is looking like just another great one, who also has Shaun Alexander in the backfield.
5. Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals
Palmer would be number two on this list on talent alone, but an injured knee leaves a big question mark on Palmer for this season.
6. Daunte Culpepper, Miami Dolphins
Culpepper is also coming off a major knee injury, but he is also farther along and will be looking to have a redemption year with the Dolphins.
7. Trent Green, Kansas City Chiefs
Green is probably the most consistent quarterback in the leagues, outside of Manning, and he will have another great season in Kansas City.
8. Eli Manning, New York Giants
Probably the opposite of Green consistency wise, but he is a work horse who will get better every game this season.
9. Jake Delhomme, Carolina Panthers
Delhomme has great talent at the wide receiver position
and has the capability to put up big numbers with his mentality.
10. Michael Vick Atlanta Falcons
This could be a scary pick, but he is the top dual threat quarterback in the league and is poised for a breakout year if he will ever have one.
Running Backs
1. Shaun Alexander, Seattle Seahawks
Leagues are won on touchdowns and there is nobody in the league who scores more than Alexander.
2. LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers
He can catch and run with the football, which gives him the greatest upside for points out of any running back.
3. Larry Johnson Kansas City Chiefs
He could easily be number one, but a lack of experience puts him behind the veterans at the position.
4. Edgerrin James, Arizona Cardinals
James showed his versatility in Indianapolis and there is no reason why he shouldn’t carry that over to a talent-laden offense.
5. Tiki Barber, New York Giants
Barber is the leader of the Giants’ offense and he still has at least two more great seasons left in him.
6. Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins
He would be higher on this list, but his shoulder injury is pretty serious and could hamper him all season long.
7. Cadillac Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Williams was a rookie phenom last season and with coach Jon Gruden wanting to run more, he should repeat those stats this season.
8. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
Jackson was never utilized the right way under Mike Martz, but this is his year to shine under the run-oriented offense this season
9. Rudi Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
This might be a little high for Johnson, but the Bengals’ offense is loaded and they will lean on Johnson as Palmer works his way back in.
10. Willis McGahee, Buffalo Bills
Willis is on a terrible offense, but he has the skill set to be a top five back and will get his touches as Buffalo tries to protect their quarterback.
