Singletary Names Smith 49ers' New Starting QB

AP - Coach Mike Singletary made the announcement Monday that Alex Smith is the team's new starting quarterback after sitting down with Shaun Hill, according to an Associated Press report.

Smith, who hadn’t played in nearly two years, completed his first six passes and finished 15 of 22 for 206 yards and three touchdown passes to tight end Vernon Davis in the second half of San Francisco's 24-21 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. [READ]
