New England Extends Ty Warren

Boston Herald - Ty Warren is not going anywhere.

Heading off a potential contractual headache two years early, the Patriots last night signed their standout defensive end to a five-year, $36 million extension with $18 million in guarantees.

“I definitely want to be a Patriot until my last days as an athlete,” Warren said last night. “I think what they offered me was more than fair, and it was just the perfect situation.”

Warren had two years and a little more than $2.5 million remaining on the six-year rookie deal he signed in 2003. But he wanted to stay and was more than willing to listen when the Patriots initiated the discussions that led to last night’s agreement, which was first reported by the NFL Network. [READ]
