Lions Place Campbell On IR

ESPN - The Detroit Lions have placed starting tight end Dan Campbell, who sustained an elbow injury in last Sunday's overtime victory against the Minnesota Vikings, on injured reserve, ending his 2007 season.

A ninth-year veteran, Campbell is regarded as one of the best, albeit underrated, blocking tight ends in the league, and the Detroit running game will suffer far more than the passing attack in his absence. Second-year player Sean McHugh will take over as the starter.

The Lions elevated Rudy Sylvan, a rookie from Ohio University, from the practice squad to the active roster to fill Campbell's spot. [READ]
