Owner Puts Crennel And Savage On Notice

Plain Dealer - Randy Lerner, the reclusive owner of the Browns, confirmed Tuesday that he is contemplating major changes in the offseason.

He would not address specifically the future of General Manager Phil Savage and Coach Romeo Crennel.

Lerner said he has not made up his mind yet about bringing back Crennel, Savage, or both men to head his football operation that has put together a 4-7 season after going 10-6 last year. The Browns are 24-35 since they were hired in the early months of 2005.

"That is at the core of the analysis," Lerner said of the dropoff. "What happened? How do you go 10-6, play good football, have the NFL generally excited, get six prime-time appearances ... how does all that happen and you struggle this way?

"I'm going to take the issues and the concerns and the criticisms very seriously and think through things and evaluate them and deal with them in January." [READ]
