Terrion Arnold: Raiders Used Coin Toss To Determine First-Round Pick

May 9, 2024 9:02 AM

The Las Vegas Raiders nearly selected Terrion Arnold with the 13th overall pick in the NFL Draft last month, says the cornerback.

Instead, the Raiders used the pick on tight end Brock Bowers. According to Arnold, Las Vegas used a coin toss to determine whether to take Arnold or Bowers.

"(The Lions) knew that the Raiders were a possibility," Arnold told "The Next Round" podcast this week. "And actually the Raiders coach, they called me after the draft, and they were like, 'We actually had a coin toss between you and Brock Bowers. It landed on him.' I was like, 'Oh wow.'"

Raiders general manager Champ Kelly told reporters Wednesday he "can't confirm" whether an actual coin toss occurred, commenting only that Las Vegas is "excited to get Brock here" as part of the offense.

Report: Kirk Cousins Left Vikings Because Of Plan To Draft QB

May 7, 2024 8:43 AM

There were a few reasons why Kirk Cousins left the Minnesota Vikings for the Atlanta Falcons in free agency this offseason.

For one, the Falcons were willing to offer Cousins more guaranteed money, but the Vikings' plan to draft a quarterback also played a role in the veteran looking for a new team, according to a report.

Minnesota was honest with Cousins about the possibility of selecting a quarterback high in the draft. The Vikings eventually took J.J. McCarthy with the 10th overall pick.

What's ironic is that the Falcons shocked many when they used the No. 8 overall pick on Michael Penix, Jr.

Cousins reportedly had no idea the Falcons were going to take a quarterback -- a decision which left him "shocked" and "disappointed."

Ravens Turned Down Eight Trade Offers For 30th Pick

May 6, 2024 8:29 AM

The Baltimore Ravens received multiple offers for their first-round pick before using it on cornerback Nate Wiggins.

According to a report, the Ravens had eight offers for the No. 30 pick.

Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta said the team identified Wiggins as a target early in the draft process.

"For us, it was always, 'If Nate [is] there, we [are] going to pick,'" DeCosta said. "In our opinion, [he's] a guy that can be a true shutdown-type corner."

Falcons Tried To Trade Back Into First Round After Drafting Penix

May 2, 2024 9:14 AM

The Atlanta Falcons tried to trade back into the first round of last week's NFL Draft after taking Michael Penix, Jr. with the eighth overall pick, according to a report.

Specifically, the Falcons wanted to move back into the teens for UCLA pass rusher Laiatu Latu. He ultimately went No. 15 overall to the Indianapolis Colts.

The New York Jets' 2024 NFL Draft documentary on YouTube shows general manager Joe Douglas getting off the phone with the Falcons and saying, "They want to come back up to 10, so they want eight and 10."
